What It Means to Be a Partner
The eXtensible Catalog Project is a result of the work and resource contributions of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and a committed set of partner institutions. There are two types of partners, user research partners and development partners. Each partner institution has committed significant resources toward the achievement of a common goal. Institutional partners were selected for their experience and interest in a particular aspect of the project and their willingness to contribute to the success of the project.
How to Become a Partner
The eXtensible Catalog project is committed to meeting the needs of a range of libraries and their users. Institutions that may be interested in contributing to our success by offering to extend XC software to meet additional needs are encouraged to contact the co-principal investigators to learn more.
XC Advisory Board
The following individuals are advising us during phase 2 and providing us with feedback on our work as we develop XC.
Emily Lynema (North Carolina State University)
Barbara Tillett (Library of Congress)
John Blyberg (Darien CT Public Library)
XC Implementation Partners
The XC Project has a number of Implementation Partners, listed below with their specific roles in the project. Most of our implementation partners are working to develop software that will serve as a “connector” between XC and a particular Integrated Library System or Learning Management System. Each institution has committed significant in-kind resources to the project, for which we are very grateful.
Notre Dame University: connector for Ex Libris’ Aleph system
Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI): connector for Ex Libris’ Voyager system
LibLime: connector for Koha
Casey Bisson, Plymouth State University: connector for Scriblio
Rochester Institute of Technology: connector for Innovative Interfaces
Oregon State University: connector for Innovative Interfaces
Georgia PINES: connector for Evergreen
University at Buffalo: integration between XC and Blackboard learning management system
XC User Research Partners
During Phase 2, we are working with the following partners to develop requirements for XC based upon local end-user research conducted at each of these institutions:
Cornell University
Ohio State University
Yale University
University of Rochester
Call for Additional Partners
The XC Team is seeking additional partners in the following areas. If you are interested, please contact David Lindahl, Jennifer Bowen, or Nancy Foster.
Sirsi/Dynix: We would like to find a partner library to develop a connector for the Sirsi Unicorn system.
Sakai: We are seeking a partner institution that is already using Sakai or is planning to use Sakai within the next year, to develop an integration between XC and Sakai.
